Can anyone quit a job at 5 star hotel to feed poors?
very few people can do it.
but, Narayanan Krishnan is the one among those , who quit his job as a brilliant chef from 5-star hotel, and now runs Akshaya Trust to feed poor and old people.
He was a bright, young, award-winning chef with a five-star hotel group, short-listed for an elite job in Switzerland, but this idea strike into his mind when he saw one man eating is own human waste as food,
He said "It really hurt me so much. I was literally shocked for a second. After that, I started feeding that man and decided this is what I should do the rest of my lifetime".
He thought that i used to feed lots of rich people in 5-star hotel, but couldn't able to feed needy people of his own town.
Then he quit his job and decided to feed poor and needy people in his town for lifetime.
Krishnan founded Akshaya Trust in 2003, which helps to feed the homeless and mentally-disabled in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to 425 indigent and elderly people in Madurai.He also provides haircuts and shaves to give extra dignity to those he serves.
The character Narayanan Krishnan played by Jayaprakash in the Dulquer Salmaan 2012 Malayalam super hit film Ustad Hotel is based on him.
Won CNN Heroes award out of 100 countries and 10,000 entries, selected in top 2 of the World. Also the first Indian to do so.
