Today we are going to share an inspiring journey of Ranjith R . A journey from watchman to IIM professor . Ranjith is from Panathur in Kasaragod district Kerala . He belong to the Marathi Scheduled Tribe community . His parents had education only till class 5 , but they know the importance of education in life so they decide to send his child to school . Ranjith get enrolled in government based school Model Residential School (MRS) for boys at Vellachal and studied there till class 10 . After that he pursue his higher secondary education at Balanthode ( also a government school ) . He realise his interest in economics and get enrolled himself in St. Pius X college in Rajapuram to pursue BA in Economics .
Ranjith family condition was not so well at that time , he even think to dropping out his college to help his family . Then one day he saw an job advertisement for night watchman at BSNL telephone exchange . He applied for the job and luckily able to grab it after then he worked as a watchman all through his graduation and post - graduation . His initial salary was only 3,500 but it increases to 8,000 in 5 years . he attended college during day time and did his job at night time . His situation didn't affect his determination and he topped his college in that year .
Ranjith completed his post graduation from Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod . \
After completing his post graduation he decided to do PhD . he then joined elite IIT Madras .
Ranjith was not able to adjust in new environment . he said he was even afraid to speak as he used to speak Malayalam (his native language ) . He felt so alone there and decided to give up after a year but his guide Dr. Subash Sasidharan an associate professor in the department help him , he even took him out and try to convince him to try one last time before giving up . With all the obstacles he faced finally he completed his PhD with three publication in four years and three month . After then IIT Madras offer him fellowship for pre doctoral research for remaining nine months .
In octuber 2020 Ranjith applied for the post of assistant professor at IIM Ranchi . And in december 2020 he get offered from Christ University at the department of Economics .
" the first thing I did was apply for a loan to build a home for my parents and siblings ", said Ranjith and before the loan was sanctioned he got appointment letter from IIM.
Ranjith story came in highlight when he himself posted his life story on Facebook . And a photo of a tiny one room house with unplastered bricks . the roof of the house is covered with black tarpaulin sheet . He writes " I was born in this house . I grew up in this house . With lots of happiness , let me tell you an assistant professor of IIM took birth here . I want to share my journey from this house to IIM - Ranchi . And I will consider it my success if this fuel at least one person's dreams."
He journey of completing his education while fighting against all odd is inspiring to all of us . He further said " Everyone has difficulties in life . But we should have dream and work toward achieving those dream . Many teachers motivated me at different stages of my life . Now my family and parents happy over my achievement ".
