The creator of the organization, Naked Colours, Swapnil Tewari has worked hard for the betterment of tribal communities. This organization helps struggling artisans by giving them 1/3rd of the earnings from each piece of work sold by them.
He started this mission when he heard of the death of an artisan in Madhuban who he was in constant touch with. The difficulties faced by his family made him travel to the village and face all obstacles to bring the family to Mumbai. The artisan's wife had endured rape and other violence and Tewari brought her and her daughter to a safer place.
He has also begun an organization that focuses on women's safety.
Swapnil Tewari never had an easy life. He almost gave up on life after his father died in a car accident when he was 12, but he learned from his problems, grew stronger at every step and became the ‘Madman’ that he is today.
He used to work in the RBI but the turning point in his life was when he called an artisan and artisian's daughter answered the phone:
“After my father passed away, the Pradhan of the village started taking away my mummy at night and dropping her back in the morning. Since then, my mummy has only been crying.”
His journey in social work started when he went in search of this family to relocate them to Delhi. Ever since he set up Naked Colours to help struggling artisans sell their work he hasn’t looked back. Recognized as one of the ‘1000 World Leaders for Hope’ by Forbes, he continues to work on many such initiatives helping people as varied as prison inmates to tribals on the verge of going over to extremism.
I received a chance to look at his exciting life and how his chaotic mind works, as a part of Shaastra 2020’s initiative,
Our cherishteam appreciates his efforts and how he faced his struggles in reallife.
